Online Discussion #2
Hey everyone,
Hope you have enjoyed the second mini-holiday! We won't have another day off for a whole 4 weeks now! =-)
It's time for our next online discussion, and this week's moderators are Ayca and Efe.
The topic will be:
Affirmative action in education: Should universities use positive discrimination to increase diversity?
As usual, please include your original opinion and respond to the ideas of 2 of your classmates. All comments should be completed by Thursday so the presenters can have time to summarize your ideas for Friday's lesson.
Don't forget to bring your homework tomorrow on choosing academically reliable sources. Also, last week we did not review the article for your Gun Crime essay. Please bring in the article and any notes you prepared for last week. Tomorrow we will discuss the main ideas of the article to ensure that everyone fully understands the ideas in the text.

Volleyball time ~
Hi, guys,
After doing your essay and preparing presentation all day, this time i have to introduce you 'volleyball' to take a rest!!
I already book the volleyball court on next Saturday(07/05/2011) afternoon 2pm-4pm.
All of you are welcome to come to play with us.
The total hire price is 40pounds; thus if there are more people coming, each individual can pay less.
By the way, having a good holiday!!

Hope you are enjoying the break so far and all the sunshine!! Take advantage while you can in the UK, it doesn't last!
I hope you have all been able to join the blog without any problems, but please let me know if you do have any.
So, the first online discussion of the summer term is here! Yadan and Tsai will be our presenters for this discussion, so they will be reading and summarizing all of your comments here on the blog in class on Thursday.

Participate in this discussion by commenting on this post. You must write an original opinion, as well as respond to the opinions of 2 of your classmates! All comments should be submitted by Wednesday the latest so Yadan and Tsai have time to prepare for Thursday.
Finally, I want to say thank you again for all your participation in the badminton tournament last week! I had so much fun and I hope you all did as well! I was so impressed, and I really look forward to playing with you all again soon! Big congratulations to Parry as well for being on the winning team! And thanks to out lovely supporters who just joined in the fun and cheered =-)

Welcome!
Hi all,
I would like to say a warm welcome to all the new students to PMG and to our class blog this term! I hope you will use this space to communicate with each other and me, as well as ask any questions you may have, post tips and suggestions about life here in the UK, and even photos of our class and school! This is a space for all of us to use and share so please feel free to post anything that interests you here!
I will be posting our first online discussion and any messages I have to you here on the blog shortly so let me know if you have any problems signing up.

Marwah found this new dictionary that is available for learners. It is comprised of key words useful for academic writing, their definitions, synonyms, and common collocations. The book is available in 3 levels, and looks very useful for learning more academic vocabulary and its usage.

To all students in my Pre-Master's class, I wish you a warm welcome to this blog site!
This class is designed to prepare you for a master's degree at the University of Sussex and all of the challenges you will face. I have set up a blog for our class to help us communicate and provide the opportunity for you to post ideas, homework, ask questions, and even have discussions! This blog will be an important tool for you to participate in class activities and stay connected to the other students and your teacher (me!).
I encourage you to use this blog as much as possible to participate in class and improve your chances of success at the University of Sussex.
